For Qatar's 2022 FIFA World Cup, Nubank was an official sponsor in South America. However, Mexico did not participate in this sponsorship. So, in order to be a part of it, we decided to find a way to be a part of the World Cup in Mexico.
We created a "traditional" World Cup football campaign, by hacking the advertising clichés of using players to sell, but with a twist.
Since we didn't have the sponsorship of our national team, we created our own team (“selección”) by summoning real Nu customers who shared the same last name as the professional Mexican football players who went to this World Cup.
Thus, we focused on our own team: The customers.
